International Travel

This is the latest creature to leave our lovely home and fly across the sea to somewhere new.
When I went to the post office to post him, the lady looked at the address on the parcel - UK and then looked at me and started gesticulating and pointing obviously trying to tell me something - but I had no idea what! I guess she thought as I was sending something to the UK, I was from the UK (which I am) and so could not speak the local language. It was really funny that she didn't even try speaking to me - not in her own language or any other language, she just pointed and made faces. Anyway thankfully I can speak the local language in a basic way - and so I should be able to after being here for 16months, and so I was able to ask her what she was trying to tell me and we got it all sorted! he he - the joys of living in a foreign country.

Mac Apple - or is it apple mac?

Mac Apple is a graphic designer. He's into retro design and loves the London Underground Map. He prefers to go around barefoot as it helps him feel the creative vibes - but when it's really not practical he does wear shoes. More important to him than shoes is his MacBook pro which he always has with him in case inspiration strikes.
Mac Apple is available in my etsy shop.

Amigurumi in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Amigurumi is becoming popular all over the world. On etsy you will find lots of people selling amigurumi toys and patterns. People from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Italy, China and more. But if you look on etsy for sellers from Bosnia and Herzegovina or if you google 'amigurumi bosnia herzegovina' there are only 2 people that come up in the google search. One is me and the other is Pepika. Pepika makes amigurumi and sells patterns. It seems that her trademark amigurumis are cute little fluffy bears like this one. She has a website http://www.pepika.com/ and and etsy shop http://www.pepika.etsy.com/. Visit her websites and check out her work and while you're at it, see what you can find out about Bosina and Herzegovina. It is a country that most people have only heard about in a negative context because of war, but there is so much more to it than that - as Pepika says on her website 'it is a beautiful, yet isolated part of Europe.' - it really is, I love living here and I would say if you get the chance it's really worth a visit!

bunny prepared...

This is bunny prepared. I made him over the weekend. I seem to be on a roll of making bags for amigurumis at the moment - so he has a bag, and in the bag a carrot! He makes me smile every time I look at him. He really looks like he's about to start out on a mission...

Ali(en) Cat

Ali(en) Cat is my latest creation. He is part cat and part alien - not sure why, but that's the way he turned out! He has his bag of stuff with him so he's ready to return to his planet at any time - or perhaps to move to live with someone who buys him from my etsy shop! You can see more photos of him on my Flickr account.

Have yourself a very kawaii Christmas...

Continuing on in the Christmas mood... Here is a Christmas tree decoration I made earlier today - perfect for decorating that kawaii Christmas tree you've always wanted he he :) you can buy it here in my etsy shop.

a new creation...

This is what I started making today - he/she/it looks a little strange, not sure yet how it will turn out, but I'll keep you updated as the mystery unfolds. The hair looks a lot better in real life -it's like a big afro except it's not curly.

Ballerina?

This little mouse loves to dance but I'm not sure if she would make it as a real ballerina.... she's a little bit chubby! reminds me of when I did ballet as a kid :) don't forget to check out my etsy shop for more cute amigurumis.

Dress Making?

So - I've noticed that I start nearly all my blogs with 'so'! Anyway, she is finished - all that is needed is to make the dress, and that is where I'm stuck. I had a go at drawing some ideas and kind of thought about making some paper patterns - but I really haven't got a clue how to do it, so I'll wait to hear back from my friend and see if she'll help me later on this week.

Little Punk

so this is Little Punk - mostly made in Sarajevo :) He is available now in my etsy shop.

Max

So this is Max - he's a mouse. He's all wrapped up for the autumn weather wearing a very nice scarf with a bell on it! and the bell actually rings :) I decided to try making some smaller amigurumi dolls because they take less time and I want to get more products into my etsy store. So I'm still working on a big doll, but now I've got a few projects on the go at the same time. If you like Max you can buy him from my etsy store.

Pretty Patterns

So here is the fabric I plan to use to make some kind of top/dress for my still un-named amigurumi. It's from Liberty of London. I haven't got any further in deciding when and how I'm going to make this dress - but when I do I'll let you know.

Happy Birthday :)

So today is a friend of mine's birthday. He's a drummer. He mocks my love of amigurumi quite regularly :) but he set me a challenge - 'make me animal from the muppets and I'll like what you do.' So here is animal from the muppets. The head was quite hard to make - especially getting the mouth right, but I am really pleased with the result. Let's hope he is too!

Making progress

So this is her so far - she still doesn't have a name. I have some really nice fabric that I want to use to make a top for her - it's from Liberty of London so hopefully soon I can show you some progress being made on that - we'll see! I used eyelash yarn again to make her hair - funky fur by Sidar and actually it was easier to use than some of the other eyelash yarn I have tried.

cat or bear?

This was the second big amigurumi doll I made - back in April or May time. It was supposed to be a cat - I was following the Hep Cat pattern in Amigurumi Super Happy Crochet Cute by Elisabeth Doherty, but somehow he ended up looking more like a bear I think - or maybe a racoon or something - but definitely not a cat! oh well he's still cute -and he's now in England awaiting the birth of my nephew/niece who is due the day after tomorrow!!!

New Project

So this is my latest project - she doesn't have a name yet, we will see how she turns out. I'm thinking of trying to sew her some clothes instead of the clothes being part of the amigurumi - but I need help from a friend, never made a pattern before. We'll see how it goes!

Not Punk Bunny

So this is Not Punk Bunny - made for a friend's baby. His name comes from the fact that I used the Punk Bunny pattern from Amigurumi Super Happy Cute Crochet by Elisabeth Doherty as my guide, but didn't follow it completely, as I didn't really think a Punk Bunny would be suitable for a new born baby...

Mr Batten Burg

So the inspiration for this one came from a necklace I saw on the Super Cute Kawaii blog and from some stuff I bought recently from the Paperchase Food Friends range. So cute:) He is for sale at my etsy shop.

Lilac

This is Lilac. She is another example of when I have used eyelash yarn. She loves the winter because she can wear fluffy jumpers - and check out her leg warmers :) maybe she's a child of the 80's. Lilac is for sale in my etsy shop.

this might help someone...

So I said that I found it hard to crochet with the fluffy wool - this is how I made it easier. I tied some thread to the wool and crocheted with both together - the thread made it easier to see where the stitches were.
