cute things that make me smile :)

I've been spending quite a bit of time getting to know my way around etsy over these last few days - and there's so much to learn! I've been taking part in forums, visiting the virtual labs and reading the storque blog. One of the things that caught my attention was the etsy treasury - a place where you can create a page of 12 items which you like - and then upload that list to share with others. There are a limited number of treasury lists that can be up at any one time so you have to wait for a space to come up - and from what I read in the forums, a gap can be quite hard to find as they are highly sought after! but... I got one and here's my list. If you want to see more of what each of these sellers has to offer I have listed the urls of their shops below - they are in order of the pictures working from left to right. I have put up more then one item by some sellers. Enjoy :)

Tweedy Cat

Tweedy cat likes to be outside and to climb trees. As you can see, he ripped his jeans climbing a tree last week and had to have them patched up. Today he had better luck - he climbed up the tree, picked a lovely red apple and put it in his bag ready to eat later on.

Tweedy cat is for sale in my etsy shop.

raspberries and custard

Happy Christmas everyone :)
I finished making raspberries and custard yesterday. She's really got the colour co-ordinated accessories down to a fine art - and check out her mittens, complete with safety strings so she doesn't lose them, just like we all had when we were kids.
raspberries and custard is for sale in my etsy shop.

a snowy day in Mostar

This is my first non-amigurumi related post! but I thought I'd show you what our street looks like today. I don't know if I've ever seen this kind of snow before - coming from the south of England -and it's pretty unusual here in Mostar too. We went out into town to enjoy the snow this morning and took lots of photos. I love this photo because of the bright colours of the graffiti against the beautiful white snow.

bunny prepared...

This is bunny prepared. I made him over the weekend. I seem to be on a roll of making bags for amigurumis at the moment - so he has a bag, and in the bag a carrot! He makes me smile every time I look at him. He really looks like he's about to start out on a mission...

accessories for amigurumis!

You may have seen pictures of this amigurumi before - she was a gift for a friend. This same friend saw the Ali(en) cat I made and was jealous of his bag, so asked me to make a bag for her amigurumi! I haven't given it to her yet but I think she'll like it - it matches her outfit and comes complete with lunch. If you are interested in having your own amigurumi then check out my etsy shop and if you really want a bag to go with it then convo me :) he he

Flo

Here she is! I gave up on the idea of sewing a dress - I couldn't get my head round it and my friend was busy and I just wanted to get her finished. I'll sew a dress for another amigurumi. But anyway I'm really happy with her crocheted outfit she's so stylish! She is for sale in my etsy shop and you can see more photos there or on my Flickr account. If you're reading this blog then leave me a comment and let me know what you think! Cao :)

Ali(en) Cat

Ali(en) Cat is my latest creation. He is part cat and part alien - not sure why, but that's the way he turned out! He has his bag of stuff with him so he's ready to return to his planet at any time - or perhaps to move to live with someone who buys him from my etsy shop! You can see more photos of him on my Flickr account.

all over the place

This month I have been all over the place - different towns and even different countries. As a result my amigurumi making is also all over the place as you can see from this photo - lots of unfinished projects. And now I'm off again... to Jajce. While I'm away don't forget to check out my etsy shop.

Have yourself a very kawaii Christmas...

Continuing on in the Christmas mood... Here is a Christmas tree decoration I made earlier today - perfect for decorating that kawaii Christmas tree you've always wanted he he :) you can buy it here in my etsy shop.

Christmas Gifts...

Christmas is coming soon - and little punk and tiny dancer have been bought as Christmas gifts. If you want to give someone something cool, cute, handmade and unusual for Christmas this year why not check out my etsy shop! I have been christmas shopping on etsy myself already - it's an excellent alternative to the normal shops you'd go into. No more Marks and Spencers, Accessorize, Argos or Toys'r'us- as nice as those shops may be - buy something handmade for Christmas this year :)

a new creation...

This is what I started making today - he/she/it looks a little strange, not sure yet how it will turn out, but I'll keep you updated as the mystery unfolds. The hair looks a lot better in real life -it's like a big afro except it's not curly.

Ballerina?

This little mouse loves to dance but I'm not sure if she would make it as a real ballerina.... she's a little bit chubby! reminds me of when I did ballet as a kid :) don't forget to check out my etsy shop for more cute amigurumis.

Dress Making?

So - I've noticed that I start nearly all my blogs with 'so'! Anyway, she is finished - all that is needed is to make the dress, and that is where I'm stuck. I had a go at drawing some ideas and kind of thought about making some paper patterns - but I really haven't got a clue how to do it, so I'll wait to hear back from my friend and see if she'll help me later on this week.

Little Punk

so this is Little Punk - mostly made in Sarajevo :) He is available now in my etsy shop.

Sarajevo

So I am in Sarajevo at the moment with not much internet access so I haven't posted any blogs for a few days. I will be here for a few more days so there won't be much action on here and I won't have much time for making amigurumis - but here's a photo of one I made earlier! I was really happy with how the hair turned out - and the socks and shoes :) you can see more pictures on my Flickr account.

Max

So this is Max - he's a mouse. He's all wrapped up for the autumn weather wearing a very nice scarf with a bell on it! and the bell actually rings :) I decided to try making some smaller amigurumi dolls because they take less time and I want to get more products into my etsy store. So I'm still working on a big doll, but now I've got a few projects on the go at the same time. If you like Max you can buy him from my etsy store.

Pretty Patterns

So here is the fabric I plan to use to make some kind of top/dress for my still un-named amigurumi. It's from Liberty of London. I haven't got any further in deciding when and how I'm going to make this dress - but when I do I'll let you know.

Happy Birthday :)

So today is a friend of mine's birthday. He's a drummer. He mocks my love of amigurumi quite regularly :) but he set me a challenge - 'make me animal from the muppets and I'll like what you do.' So here is animal from the muppets. The head was quite hard to make - especially getting the mouth right, but I am really pleased with the result. Let's hope he is too!

Making progress

So this is her so far - she still doesn't have a name. I have some really nice fabric that I want to use to make a top for her - it's from Liberty of London so hopefully soon I can show you some progress being made on that - we'll see! I used eyelash yarn again to make her hair - funky fur by Sidar and actually it was easier to use than some of the other eyelash yarn I have tried.

cat or bear?

This was the second big amigurumi doll I made - back in April or May time. It was supposed to be a cat - I was following the Hep Cat pattern in Amigurumi Super Happy Crochet Cute by Elisabeth Doherty, but somehow he ended up looking more like a bear I think - or maybe a racoon or something - but definitely not a cat! oh well he's still cute -and he's now in England awaiting the birth of my nephew/niece who is due the day after tomorrow!!!

New Project

So this is my latest project - she doesn't have a name yet, we will see how she turns out. I'm thinking of trying to sew her some clothes instead of the clothes being part of the amigurumi - but I need help from a friend, never made a pattern before. We'll see how it goes!

Not Punk Bunny

So this is Not Punk Bunny - made for a friend's baby. His name comes from the fact that I used the Punk Bunny pattern from Amigurumi Super Happy Cute Crochet by Elisabeth Doherty as my guide, but didn't follow it completely, as I didn't really think a Punk Bunny would be suitable for a new born baby...

Mr Batten Burg

So the inspiration for this one came from a necklace I saw on the Super Cute Kawaii blog and from some stuff I bought recently from the Paperchase Food Friends range. So cute:) He is for sale at my etsy shop.

Lilac

This is Lilac. She is another example of when I have used eyelash yarn. She loves the winter because she can wear fluffy jumpers - and check out her leg warmers :) maybe she's a child of the 80's. Lilac is for sale in my etsy shop.

this might help someone...

So I said that I found it hard to crochet with the fluffy wool - this is how I made it easier. I tied some thread to the wool and crocheted with both together - the thread made it easier to see where the stitches were.

a gift for a friend

This was the first time I experimented with using eyelash yarn - it was pretty hard to use! It's very hard to see the individual stitches and so it's hard to keep the right number of stitches in each row, especially when using the more fluffy yarn used on the jumper sleeves. But I did it - and I'm very happy with the result - as is the friend I gave it too :)

box of bits

a box of bits is essential for every kind of crafter! amongst other things, in my box you can see a variety of eyes which I buy from Enami Eyes and some patterned fabric from Liberty of London.

cute cactus :)

this is one of the first amigurumis I made - with help from Ana Paula Rimoli's book 'Amigurumi World':)

Surfer Girl

Surfer Girl is now in England where she will belong to my soon to be born niece/nephew :)
